The plastic and the coffee grinder
The Pollopas:
That we often confuse with the Bakelite.
This one is also a thermodurcissable, but with urea-formaldéhyde, created in the neighborhood of 1928 by a named chemist F. Pollak in United States.
They are two very identical materials and of the same period, what what differentiates them, it is their basic polymer:
Bakelite is a phénoplaste ( phénol-formaldéhyde )
Pollopas is a aminoplaste ( urée-formaldéhyde )
To recognize them:
Bakélite, Always plain, dark or marbled tints.
Pollopas, Tints of clear and bright color.
In this period, Pollopas value three - four times as expensive as the Bakelite, what explains that he was often employed for the very visible parts of the coffee grinder (box or hopper), contrary to the bakelite which was employed for the less visible parts (drawer).
Example: left mill realized in bakelite and right mill realized there pollopas

On the catalog Peter Dienes of 1935, Price of the mill in Bakelite: 4,50 Reichsmark Price of the mill in Pollopas : 5,00 Reichsmark
In Pollopas, we made very beautiful objects and high-quality, particularly, of the dishes (cup, plate, plateau, suitcase completes of picnic etc.).
From 1930, the major part of the production of Pollopas came from a German company named Troplast to Troisdorf.
